willow and hazel windbreak

Willow and Hazel Planting Day.

Saturday 25 February from 11am ending 3pm
Days are lengthening and  warming up a bit and its time to get planting!
Lucy will be leading us in planting a willow bed (in the position shown below) and a hazel hedge.

The hazel hedge will be along the western edge of the poly tunnel and demonstration area to offer wind protection and eventually useful poles for plant supports.
There will be more info about the multiple uses of willow and hazel in our next news letter.
Do bring food and some thing hot in your thermos.
Look forward to seeing you there.

  1. Hey Lucy, great that you are taking over ECA’s website (thank you!).
I hope you don’t find it too daunting, it’s just a matter of time to get familiar with how it works. If you get stuck with anything, let me know and we can work it out together. I’m sure you’ll do great, but watch out, you may get all nerdy after a while!
And here is your first comment to moderate…….
    cheers, sara
